8 Makeup Techniques I’ve Learnt At M.A.C Technique Masterclass

I went back to school last month. The difference is, this one I really enjoyed. I took the 2 hour long M.A.C Technique Masterclass in Amsterdam last month and I’m so glad that I did. To be frank, I do believe that I do a pretty decent job at applying makeup (M.A.C artists complemented me on my eye makeup 😉 ) but there’s still a long way to go. And when it’s a Masterclass from M.A.C cosmetics , you can’t say no, can you?  We did a Day to Night look at the event which consisted of makeup demonstration, explanation and application technique. I got to learn so many techniques and tips from M.A.C pros in action!

    1. Always prep before applying makeup

      • Exfoliate skin for a smooth canvas

You can never achieve a flawless finish on a dry blotchy skin. Exfoliation removes any dead skin or dry patches and gives you a smooth surface to begin with.

      • Always Prime your skin

Primer is so so important to begin with. Not just it makes your makeup last longer but it also protects your skin from the makeup itself.

Product used  – PREP + PRIME NATURAL RADIANCE

      • Eye cream to avoid concealer creasing

Eye cream does many jobs at once. It is anti-wrinkle and reduces your dark circles (this we all knew ), it gives that glittery effect to the eye lids, so you can go without applying eye shadow. An eye cream with primer is an absolute must before applying a concealer to avoid creasing.

Product used  – FAST RESPONSE EYE CREAM

    2.  Apply Strobe cream on highlighting points first

Strobe cream gives a glowy effect to the face. Apply strobe cream on the highlighting areas first, like on temples, forehead, head, cupid’s bow and chin. And then apply the left over amount on the rest of the face. Don’t worry, Strobe cream never makes you look like a Disco ball.

      Product Used – STROBE CREAM

    3. Apply blush before foundation

This will give you that healthy peachy tint that comes from within.

      Product used – CREMEBLEND BLUSH

    4.  Test foundation or concealer on inside of your arm instead of the back of your hand

This is one mistake I always did and ended up buying a foundation few shades darker. So always test your products on the inside of your arm or on your jaw in daylight.

Product used – STUDIO WATERWEIGHT SPF 30 FOUNDATION

    5.  Add powder to your foundation to make it thicker

If you feel that your foundation is very light, then you can add in little powder, but make sure that you don’t add a lot.

    6.  Put highlighter on the inner corners of your eyes

This is my favourite. Add a highlighter or little eyeshadow on the inner corners of your eyes and then blend with a fan brush or fingers. This will open up your eyes and gives you a really fresh summery look.

Product used – PREP + PRIME HIGHLIGHTER

    7.  Start with less product

Many people are heavy handed and use a lot of product in one go. This ends up in a very cakey fake application. Always start with less product and build it slowly. It is easy to add little by little until you get the desired coverage than to take it all away in one go.

    8.  3 rules of eyebrows

Your eyebrows should be groomed, symmetrical and never darker than the natural color.

Product used – FLUIDLINE BROW GELCREME

Hope you guys liked the above tips/techniques I learnt at the M.A.C Technique Masterclass. Thank you so much for reading!  XOXOXOXO

Is primer advisable for everyday makeup? Since it clogs the pores and wouldn’t let the skin breathe. What would you suggest?

I guess its ok if you clean your pores at night and let them breathe!
