It’s all Greek to me : Athens

I woke up from a beautiful dream. The Greek dream.. We were in Greece last week and I gotta tell you that Greece has to be one the most beautiful and scenic countries I’ve visited till date (another being Canada, Oh Canada!) . Our Flight from Amsterdam landed in Athens . We checked out Athens for 2 days and then left for the beautiful islands of Mykonos and Santorini.

Athens was full history .Witnessing things from 3500 years back wasn’t anything less than spectacular.  Reaching Acropolis was really adventurous..  Acropolis is on top of a hill . The majestic building and city views  you get from there are totally worth climbing up the uneven rocks. However it was super sunny during our time. I’m so glad that I got my hat with me. And you gotta wear flats or shoes everywhere. Any kind of heels or wedges are  like inviting for an accident. And the stones at the site are super slippery . However,  each stone and walls tell the story of a thousands of years old civilization, which was really fascinating. We spent our first day visiting Acropolis and then walked around the city in the evening to get a feel of Greek culture.

On our second day, we visited the ancient ruins of Agora. This place had numerous sites and was very well preserved . It encompasses the remnants of a numerous buildings . Ancient Agora was the oasis of calm in this city center. It occupies a huge space and is pretty green and is home to various creatures like butterflies , birds, lizards , snakes etc. The walk on the paths was really pleasurable. We even spotted a hungry tortoise who was feasting on some beautiful little yellow flowers. In the evening , we strolled around the city and tried some delicious Greek cuisine. I can say I’m in love with Feta and Greek yoghurt now.

Athens was amazing but I can’t wait to show you the super gorgeous panoramic views from the islands in my next post  🙂
