A line  dresses are fitted from shoulders to upper hip and gradually widen towards the hem. This silhouette makes the upper body look slimmer hence it is a really flattering option to fake slimmer arms. The length of the hem varies from mini till ankle length as in Anarkali, thus it is a very popular choice of women with wide hips and thighs.

2. Pleats

Pleated dresses are great for all body types. Pleats which begin at the waist draw the attention towards the lower part of the body. An all over pleats is a great way to build curves for those who don’t have them . It also provides a slimming illusion for those with abundance of curves.

3. V-neckline

A decollete neckline is the most flattering neckline. Its very difficult to look your best in high necklines. Polo necks, crew necks don’t do you any good if you’re on the heaver side. It’s even the worst choice of neck line for a sleeveless dress if your arms are not really like Deepika Padukone’s. V neckline are very flattering and give a slimmer and taller appearance. They make your neck look longer and draw attention away from the lower body and untoned arms.

4. Narrow Straps

A dress with narrow or spaghetti straps diverts attention from the arms towards the middle part of the body. This is a fun and bold way accentuate your look. Length of the dress could be anywhere from mini to ankle. This style can also be flaunted with ethic dresses like churidaar suit or noodle strap blouse for saree.

5.  Tailored

Tailored dresses are supposed to fit the body. These dresses fit the upper body like a glove without any unflattering spaces. Loose arm openings are shabby and make the arms look wider. Fitted arm openings draw the attention towards the more sophisticated ares of the dress as pleats and neckline. Also a wider arm opening always makes the arm appear smaller .

Hair Tip –  Wearing your hair loose also hides the upper arm flab. Open hair on both the shoulders take the attention away from bigger arms.

Narrow / spaghetti straps are a definitely no no with big arms, unless you want them to appear even larger….

narrow & spaghetti straps make my arms look huge. Like I’m some sort of body builder. My eyes go right to my upper arms. How could these EVER be flattering when you want to draw attention AWAY from your big arms?
